PAGE 8 in syllabus Learning Outcomes Essays During this course, you will be asked to reflect on your course of study. During weeks 2, 4 and 6, you will compose a 5-7 page analytical essay, addressing the learning outcomes as they pertain to what you have learned throughout your degree program. In your essay: • Identify the course related to your achievement of the outcome elements listed in the weekly materials. (Some elements may be covered in more than one course). • List assignments, projects, group activities that helped you in your learning. If possible, provide a copy of the actual document you submitted for the class (this can be submitted by way of email). The essay content should be presented in the following order: Essay 1: • Semantic, syntactic, pragmatic, symbolic, and relativistic aspects of language in order to negotiate meaning and promote clarity, responsibility, and ethical behavior in relational, public, and mediated communication. • Intrapersonal and interpersonal communication as it is influenced by socialization, identity-management, self-concept, self-esteem, and self-talk in order to develop new behaviors and expanded role repertoires in varied social, professional, organizational, and academic situations. • How debilitative emotions result from irrational thinking and the fallacies of perfection, approval, overgeneralization, causation, expectations, helplessness, and catastrophic expectations.
