The war began in direct response to the September 11, 2001 (9/11) terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the newly found War on Terror. The Administrations accusations about ties to 9/11 and WMD s were also used to stir up fear in American People. Evidence later revealed there was no credible intelligence revealing ties between Saddam Hussein and the 9/11 attacks.
