The research topic is “Family Dynamics (Interracial Family)” Title Page and Topic Rationale. Discuss the relevance of the selected topic to an understanding of multiculturalism or the application of the topic in multicultural counseling. The family of 4 (African American husband, Caucasian wife and 2 children a boy and a girl). Remember, the intent of this paper is to let you walk in someone else’s shoes.

The final paper must be 10–12 pages (not including the title page, abstract page, or references pages). Please Do Not submit a paper that has a SafeAssign score of higher than 15% (after you take out References and the grading rubric before submitting to SafeAssign).

A minimum of 10 peer-reviewed academic journal resources should be included in the paper with a range of dates determined by your professor. Rely on peer-reviewed resources easily accessed through Liberty University’s online library.

You should have a title page and abstract. The annotated bibliography should not be pasted in the paper. However, the annotated bibliography should offer the sources that you need for your APA-style References section of the Final Paper.

The paper must include a title page, abstract page, and references pages. APA format must be observed for this assignment and include appropriate Level 1 headings.

References must be within the last 5 years.
Abstract must summarize the paper that consist of 150-250 words (maximum).
An annotated bibliography must be a collection of at least 10 one-paragraph summaries of research articles that you intend to use in the final paper. The sources must be dated within the past 5 years.
Annotations must be your summary of the article.

If a research study was the focus of the article or was mentioned in your summary be sure to include a summary of the findings. Do not simply say the authors conducted a study without providing as summary of the findings.

The source citations should conform to current APA format guidelines. The sources and summaries should be listed in alphabetical order based on the first author’s last name.

1. Foreign Economics and the National Economic Council
Please discuss the following issue:
You are a senior official at the State Department and you have been assigned the responsibility of developing a memo to the White House articulating the Department’s position on a piece of legislation that is currently being considered by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has requested the Administration’s views of the legislation before it sends the legislation to the floor for a vote. The White House has also asked for the views of the Defense, Commerce, Homeland Security, Labor and Health and Human Services Departments.

Your memorandum should at least 350 words but no more than 500 words in length. You should address all the issues below.

The proposed legislation would do three things. First it would establish tariffs against imports from China and other low-wage countries in Asia and Africa (allies like Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and Taiwan would be exempted). Supporters of this legislation claim that the flood of such imports has eroded America’s domestic manufacturing to the point where action needs to be taken in order to shrink the unemployment rate in this country. In so doing, government tax revenues would increase and spending on programs like unemployment insurance and Social Security would shrink.

Second, the legislation would require the White House to designate high tech and defense industries in which foreign investment by countries that are not members of NATO would be limited. Supporters of the legislation argue that foreign investors should not be able to gain control over companies essential to national defense or to America’s technological leadership in the key industries of tomorrow.

Third, the legislation would prohibit the importation of any goods from a foreign corporation that has been found by either the Secretaries of the Commerce or Health and Human Services Departments to have violated American consumer safety rules. The legislation would require annual reports by the White House listing those foreign corporations.

Your memorandum should evaluate the short and long term effects that this legislation is likely to have. Specifically, the memorandum should address:

1.) How might this legislation contradict previous US policy commitments under the World Trade Organization?

3. International Law: Arbitration
How Important is the International Court of Justice?
Due to budget pressures in the United States, an increasing numbers of voters and members of Congress have expressed the view that the country should cut back on its funding of the United Nations. The US funds about $6.5 billion of the UN’s regular annual budget – that amounts to 22% of the UN budget.

The International Court of Justice is a small part of the UN budget, but there is a proposal in Congress to eliminate US funding for the ICJ.

What would you say to educate the American public and Congress about why the reasons why the ICJ should continue to be funded by the US?

(Do not confuse the ICJ and the ICC in your answers. The International Criminal Court does not arbitrate disputes – it renders judgments against individual people prosecuted for alleged war crimes and human rights abuses. The ICC is not part of the UN structure.)

In order for us to understand how to make effective arguments of our own, we need to understand how arguments are constructed. When we analyze arguments and question how and why people construct their messages, we are becoming better critical thinkers in both academic settings and in our society as well.

This assignment asks you to prepare yourself to write an argument by closely analyzing the argument of another. Identifying, examining, and evaluating the working parts of an argument can help us learn useful (and avoid less useful) patterns in our own thinking and writing. In this assignment, you will find a current (within 5 years) editorial or opinion-editorial from a credible news organization. You will then analyze the article to determine its success.

Goals

Objectively analyze the editorial to determine how it works.
Come to an understanding of who the audience is and how they’re being persuaded.
Identify and analyze the major parts of the argument (thesis, claims, evidence, refutation, any fallacies). Use both the Toulmin and Rogerian argument.
Analyze the author’s rhetorical appeals.
Create a clear argument about the success of the editorial (this will be your thesis).

Note: Your primary focus here is still the structure of the text. However, in your evaluation of the argument, you can offer a few suggestions (this should be a very short part of your paper). For example, you could suggest a stronger argument that the author might have included, discuss the use of counter-argument, or highlight a misunderstanding of audience and suggest a more appealing message.

Topics

Any editorial or opinion piece from a reputable news source will be fine for this assignment. The only blogs that I will accept are blogs by credible newspapers, television companies, or any other source that you run by me first. I reserve the right to veto any editorial. The editorial you choose needs to be fairly current (within the last 5 years). Be sure to choose a topic of interest to you, as you will need to read the text many times in order to write your analysis.

Note: This is not a research paper, but you will be required to cite your editorial using internal and end citation. No other research is required or recommended (you are focusing solely on the argument, not the topic).

Evaluative Criteria

I will read your Final-for-Now (FFN) draft for:

A strong introduction that provides general background on the issue, identifies the editorial, and includes a clear, focused thesis statement
Depth of analysis—your close reading and interpretation of your text; evidence in support of the thesis statement.
An in-depth discussion of the argument. A successful paper will have identification and analysis of the major parts of the argument (thesis, warrant, evidence, counter-argument). It will also recognize any logical fallacies.
Correct identification of rhetorical appeals. This means a clear understanding the audience. Remember, pathos is an appeal to the audience’s values or identity. Ethos is the persona the author creates in the text and how credibility is established. Logos is how facts are used and organized (it is important to analyze the organization of the editorial).
Academic Conventions: MLA, grammar, voice, paragraph structure, and style have been recognized with proper in-text citations, and Works Cited page.
Meeting the length (which means depth!) requirements (4-5 pages).

Write a problem/solution essay on being unhealthy as the problem and the solution for that. I would like to talk about the food consumed by unhealthy individuals and how it is the manufactures and their advertisements that cause unhealthy decisions as well as the need for exercise and somehow tie that into a statistic of how many people don’t do physical activity on a daily basis. Please feel free to add one more solution.
