Prepare an 8 – 10 page (excluding cover page, reference page, appendix(ices) critical appraisal using the following guidelines and criteria:

HEADINGS
Background
Briefly describe the rationale for selecting the clinical problem and how the problem can be improved through research and/or evidence based findings
PICOT question
Identify the PICOT question – clearly describing the population of interest, intervention, comparison, outcomes and timeframe
Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Model
Describe a model of EBP that will be used to investigate the PICOT question
Describe how the selected model guided the critical appraisal
Search Process
Describe the search process used including:
Databases and websites searched
All key words used in the search process
Total number and types of literature retrieved
Provide rationale for the studies selected for this appraisal
Critique of Evidence
(Evaluate the studies you selected then decide which of those to critique based on your PICOT question) Develop a synthesis/evaluation matrix table that concisely and accurately supports evidence for the PICOT question (See Matrix table example).
Table must contain a minimum of three articles. Preferable to select primary studies and AVOID systematic reviews (ie. meta-analysis, meta-synthesis).
(Submit as an Appendix OR in body of paper)
Include the following columns in the table
Study Citation and Level of Evidence
Purpose of the study
Study method (ie. correlational; cross-sectional; quasi-experimental; longitudinal)
Sample (size and general makeup of sample)
Statistical analysis methods (ie. ANOVA; paired t-test, Chi-Square)
Key findings
For each article listed in the table, write two to three paragraphs that includes discussion of:
Primary purpose of study
Study method
Brief discussion of the sample
Key findings contribution to evidence
Strengths and weaknesses of study
Limitations of study
Gaps in knowledge
Clinical Integration
Evaluate the clinical significance of the evidence and determine if evidence found is applicable to your clinical area
How does evidence impact nursing or healthcare
Identify how the evidence can impact/influence patient care
Determine and discuss whether further research about the topic is warranted or whether an evidence based change in clinical practice is warranted
Plans for Proposal
Provide an overview of your proposal to examine PICOT question (10)
Discuss ideas/plans for the proposal/prospectus

Paper uses APA writing style, which includes grammatically correct language and spelling, economy of expression, precision, clarity
Use required headings in the order indicated

Some notes:
I may need help with the PICOT question. I was thinking something like: In adult schizophrenia patients taking antipsychotic medications how does medication and social support compared to medication alone affect their medication adherence over a 6 months?
I can consider another one as long as it is with schizophrenia.
