In six to no more than eight typed and double-spaced pages use all of the assigned readings and assigned Document Projects in Weeks 10 through 14 (Modules 4, 5, and 6) to explain why organized women’s rights activism declined in the 1920s and 1930s; why and how mass-based social movements for civil rights and women’s rights emerged in the 1950s and 1960s; and why the movement split into branches–liberal and radical by the 1970s. Your answer should explain how the political contexts and social tensions the during and after World War II (postwar America) were an important preconditions for the resurgence of women’s rights activism, and should use Cobble, et al. to explain the tactics and goals of the two distinct branches of organized feminism. Be sure to refer to people and events to illustrate and prove your general arguments.
