Describe The Cruelty of War in Literature?

The numerous conflicts of the war and peace produced writers who sometimes chose to concentrate their writing on the horrifying effects and worthlessness of war. Just like Owen, Jarrell shows the horrific aspect of war in his poem and he is giving us an insight into war. And they did not go to war for glory or honor, but simply to avoid shame. Sadness goes hand in hand with war. In all three works, the authors really do bring the cruelty of war.
